学院简介

学院前身是1998年成立的人文科学系,历经文理学院,于2008年5月正式命名为人文学院。现有中文系、预科系、外语系、传媒系、艺术与教育系5个系。设有学院办公室、教务办公室、学生办公室3个办公室。拥有语音实验室、广播电视新闻学实验室、人文艺术实验室3个一级实验室和校内电视台实习实训基地、人文艺术培训中心、双语教育研究中心。

学院现有教职工135名,其中教授、副教授42名,具有博士、硕士学位教师97人。有汉语言文学、汉语言、中国少数民族语言文学、广播电视新闻学、英语、学前教育、艺术设计7个本科专业,有新闻与传播专业硕士点1个,民族学校级重点学科1个,有非传统安全与边疆民族发展研究中心、双语教育研究中心2个科学研究平台。拥有校级精品课程一门,校级视频公开课一门,校级质量工程汉语言(民本)特色专业和中国语言教学团队项目两项。

学院以科研促教学,大力实施教学科研双轮驱动,实现综合发展。自建院以来,先后承担了国家重大招标项目2项、国家重点项目2项、国家社科基金项目42项、省部级项目近41余项,公开出版专著(教材)60余部,在CSSCI以及中文核心期刊发表论文100余篇。

学院以口支援为契机,进一步加强与疆内外其他高校、科研单位的合作关系,先后与新疆社科院、兰州大学、浙江大学、中国矿业大学、北京语言大学等科研单位和高校建立了多层次的协作关系。成功举办多场全国性大型学术会议,反响强烈。近年来,学院的社会服务能力不断提升,其中汉语言、中国少数民族语言文学、英语、学前教育四个专业的大四学生长期在南疆地方县乡从事每年一学期的双语教育支教服务工作,获得极高的社会评价;学院还承接了兵团政法系统基层干部春、秋两季的双语培训、兵团小学教师继续教育培训、兵团宗教人士文化知识培训班、自治区少数民族双语教师岗位能力提高培训项目、非传统安全与新疆南疆双语教育高层次复合型人才培养高级研修培训等各类培训任务,承担了学校的教师资格认定与普通话测试工作。

学院现有学生1700多人,其中本科生1600多人,研究生28人,由汉族、维吾尔族、哈萨克族、回族、柯尔克孜族等13个民族组成。2015年,学院获“自治区民族团结进步模范单位”荣誉称号。

学院秉承“敦品励学、格物致新”的院训,以综合素质高、动手能力强的“素质+特长”复合型应用人才为培养目标。建院以来已经为社会培养了3000余名各类专业人才,毕业生大多工作在新疆(尤其是南疆)的基础教育、基层政府和企事业单位第一线,为新疆社会稳定和长治久安做出了重大贡献。

An Introduction to College of Humanities and Arts, Tarim University

College of Humanities and Arts (short for the College thereafter) was founded in May 2008, which evolved from Department of Humanity Science founded in 1998 and it developed into College of Arts and Science in 2001. The College has: five academic units, namely, Chinese Department, Preparatory Department, English Department, Communication and Media Department and Arts and Education Department; three administrative offices, respectively, Office of the College, Office of Teaching Affairs and Office of Students affairs; three First Level Laboratories, including Language Lab, Broadcast and TV News Lab and Humanities and Arts Lab; three centers, such as Tarim University TV Internship and Training Center, Humanities and Arts Training Center and Bilingual Educational Research Center.

There are 135 faculty and staff members in the College, among whom 42 are professors or associate professors and 97 with doctoral degrees or master’s degrees. The College now has 7 bachelor’s degree programs: Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese Language, Chinese Ethnic Language and Literature, Radio and Television Journalism, English, Pre-school Education, and Artistic Design. The College also has a master’s degree program - Journalism and Communication; a university-level key discipline — Ethnonymics; two scientific research centers—Non-traditional Security and Frontier Ethnic Development Research Center, and Bilingual Education Research Center. It also has one university-level quality course, one university-level video open class, and two projects—University-level Quality Engineering Chinese Language Characteristic Specialty (for ethnic minority undergraduates) and Chinese Language Teaching Team.

Driving by the “two engines” — teaching and research, the College tries hard to promote teaching by scientific research to achieve comprehensive development. Since its establishment, the scientific research teams have been undertaking 2 key national bidding projects, 2 key national projects, 42 national social science fund projects and 41 provincial and ministerial projects. Besides, teachers and researchers have published more than 60 monographs (or textbooks) and more than 100 academic papers in CSSCI source journals and Chinese core journals.

The College has seized the opportunity of counterpart assistance policy, further reinforcing and setting up her multi-level cooperative relationship successively with many research institutions as well as other universities both inside and outside Xinjiang: Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences, Lanzhou University, Zhejiang University, China University of Mining and Technology as well as Beijing Language and Culture University. The College has successfully held several nationwide academic conferences and won favorable reputations. In recent years, the social service ability of the college has been constantly elevated. For instance, senior students majoring in Chinese Language, Chinese Minority Language and Literature, English and Pre-school education have been working as volunteers of bilingual education in counties and towns of southern Xinjiang for one semester each year for many years, receiving excellent social praise. The College also offers various training programs, such as bilingual training program of spring term and autumn term for political and law systems of Xinjiang Production and Construction Group, further education training program for primary school teachers of Xinjiang Corps, cultural knowledge training course for religious figures of Xinjiang Corps, capacity improving training program for minority bilingual teachers in Xinjiang as well as advanced training program for high level and inter-disciplinary talents majoring in non-traditional security and bilingual education in Southern Xinjiang. In addition, the College undertakes tasks of teaching qualification recognition and Mandarin Chinese proficiency test.

The College has a total of more than 1700 students, representing 13 ethnic groups, including Han, Uyghur, Kazak, Hui and Khalkhas, among whom over 1600 are undergraduates, 28 postgraduates. In 2015, the College was entitled “Ethnic Minority Harmony Advancing Model Unit of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region”.

Since her founding, the College has adhered to the motto: “Cultivate virtue and encourage studies; seek truth and make renovations” and strived for the educational goal—inter-disciplinary and application-oriented talents with all-round development and strong practical ability. It has provided more than 3,000 quality talents in various fields at different levels. Most graduates work in Xinjiang, especially in elementary education field, the public enterprises and institutions, as well as local authorities in southern Xinjiang, which has made a significant contribution to social stability and security in Xinjiang.
